Virginia National Ballet School students dance alongside international professionals in this classic holiday production. Watch the Nutcracker come to life in a performance full of mesmerizing choreography and gorgeous sets. Hylton Performing Arts Center, Tickets: $25-$37, 2 p.m. & 6:30 p.m.

Native American Heritage Day

The museum’s annual Family Fun Day includes games, storytelling, hands-on activities and crafts. Prepare to be captivated by music and dance presentations happening throughout the day. National Museum of the American Indian, FREE, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Saturday, November 30

3rd Annual Holiday Ornament Open House

Families are invited for morning of cookies, cocoa and crafting. Take home handmade ornaments to hang on your Christmas tree this year and for years to come. Anders Ruff Workshop, Ornaments: $6 each or 3 for $15, 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

6th Annual Tree Lighting Festival

The Shaw neighborhood of D.C. celebrates the holiday season with an afternoon of family-friendly activities along 8th St. NW, including electric train rides, moon bounces, fire pits and s’mores stations, live music and festive food offerings. Stay for the tree lighting at 5 p.m. City Market at O Street, FREE, 2-5 p.m.

PJ Masks Save the Day Live!

Catboy, Owlette and Gekko take the stage for an all new super-heroic, live musical show. Your kids’ favorite crime-fighting trio will be leaping, flipping and climbing as they take on sneaky villians with the help of their new friend, PJ Robot. DAR Constitution Hall, Tickets: $27.50-$97.50, 2 p.m.

Lucy Kalantari & The Jazz Cats

Children ages 3 to 8 will have a blast dancing in their pjs to the music of Grammy-winning songwriter Lucy Kalantari and her swinging band, The Jazz Cats, at AMP’s Kids Pajama Jam Party. Parents will recognize the group’s playful hits like “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” and “My Mommy is a Mummy.” AMP by Strathmore, Tickets: $12 in advance or $15 at the door (children under 2 are free), 5:30 p.m.
